Center Valley, PA — Just four actors portray 150 characters and tell one unforgettable story in\u00a0The 39 Steps<\/em>\u00a0running June 19 through July 14 at the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival.\u00a0 A mystery-thriller described as \u201cwhere Hitchcock meets hilarious,\u201d\u00a0The 39 Steps<\/em>\u00a0previews June 19th and 20th, and opens June 21st.<\/p>\n

The wild quick-change comedy of espionage and murder is based on the spy \u201cshocker\u201d novel by John Buchan and the 1935 film thriller of Alfred Hitchcock, as adapted by Patrick Barlow.<\/p>\n

Directed by\u00a0Matt Pfeiffer<\/strong>, an award-winning Philadelphia artist, the play features an exceptional cast. Portraying an ordinary man swept into an international chase \u2013 with his life on the line is\u00a0William Connell<\/strong>\u00a0as Richard Hannay. Hannay\u2019s mid-life funk quickly dissipates when he catches the eye of a mysterious woman at the theatre, played by\u00a0Genevieve Perrier<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Steve Burns<\/strong>\u00a0(of Blue\u2019s Clues renown) and\u00a0Anthony Reimer<\/strong>\u00a0play \u201cClown 1\u201d and \u201cClown 2\u201d — reenacting all of the characters and famous scenes from Hitchcock\u2019s film with a few props and innumerable costume changes.
\nSamina Vieth<\/strong>\u00a0has designed the set for multiple locations in 1935 London and Scotland, while\u00a0Lisa Zinni<\/strong>\u00a0has designed the costumes. Voice and text coach is\u00a0Dudley Knight<\/strong>. Lighting is designed by\u00a0Thom Weaver<\/strong>\u00a0and sound by PSF\u2019s resident designer\u00a0Matthew Given<\/strong>.\u00a0Marguerite Price<\/strong>\u00a0serves as stage manager.<\/p>\n

Serves as the Associate Artistic Director of Theatre Exile in Philadelphia.
