The musical previews June 12th and 13th, opens June 14th, running through June 30th on the main stage.<\/p>\nA celebration of the pioneer spirit that built America,\u00a0Oklahoma!<\/em>\u00a0contains iconic songs — \u201cPeople Will Say We\u2019re in Love,\u201d \u201cThe Surrey with the Fringe on Top\u201d and \u201cOh, What a Beautiful Mornin\u2019\u201d — capturing the joys and hopes on the horizons beyond the daily struggles of the settlers\u2019 life.<\/p>\nDennis Razze<\/strong>, PSF associate artistic director who directed last season\u2019s acclaimed production of\u00a0Sweeney Todd,\u00a0<\/em>directs.<\/p>\nOklahoma!<\/em>\u00a0changed the landscape of musical theatre when it premiered in 1943, creating the modern American \u201cbook musical\u201d by uniting well-drawn characters, linear plot structure, and integrated songs and dances.<\/p>\nLife on the plains takes center stage \u2013 colored by romance and jealousy, adventure and adversity. Curly, an exuberant cowboy played by\u00a0Doug Carpenter<\/strong>, and Laurey, a farm girl played by\u00a0Christine Negherbon<\/strong>, deny their obvious attraction \u2013 creating an opportunity for the farmhand Jud, played by\u00a0Brent Bateman<\/strong>, to come between them. Laurey\u2019s friend, Ado Annie, played by\u00a0Julia Pfender<\/strong>, finds herself torn between her local beau Will,\u00a0Sean McGee<\/strong>, and the smooth-talking traveling salesman Ali Hakim,\u00a0Fran Prisco<\/strong>.<\/p>\nLongtime collaborator\u00a0Stephen Casey<\/strong>\u00a0has created the dances in\u00a0Oklahoma!<\/em>\u00a0Negherbon and Carpenter will dance the principal ballet \u2013 there will not be a \u201cdream\u201d Laurey and Curly.\u00a0Rick Sordelet<\/strong>, who has designed fight scenes for 56 Broadway productions, has directed the fight scenes between the cowboys and farmers, and Jud and Curly. The music in the production is directed and conducted by\u00a0Nathan Diehl<\/strong>.
